Where to begin. I’m Lila Fox, born in the late 70’s in south Louisiana to a 19 year old girl from Grand Isle & a 24 year old boy from Galveston. Hippies; they still are. My mom was a free spirit who didn’t wish to settle down and raise children, however my father did so my parents agreed that my father would take full custody of my younger brother and me. My parents ran with the same crowd of friends socially, so even though they were not married I grew up seeing them, amicably, together. My father worked blue collar, my mom a bartender. We didn’t have a lot of money, but due to the schools I went to (that I later learned my father petitioned the school board to let me into even though we were out of district) I grew up around a lot of money, all the way into university. In other words, I saw from a very young age the differences. I’m leaving a lot of detail out, but I say all of this because my upbringing positively shaped who I am and how I see, think about, and interact with the world. Adversity is a great thing, and the ability to eloquently relate within both blue collar and white-collar society with equal comfort is to me the most rare and underestimated life skill.

For the past 12 years, I’ve arranged travel and tailored experiences for a small list of predominantly American high net worth individuals. The decade prior to this was spent as a consulting Civil & Environmental Engineer, living and working throughout the United States and Canada. It was during this segment of my career that I discovered writing and photography which became powerful creative outlets to an otherwise stringent profession. I started a blog and picked up a camera back in 2007 in an era when sharing personal words and art online was quite pure and simple by today’s standards. One thing led to another, and in addition to writing about travel, I began to plan travel for individuals after my travel photography and narrative surrounding the images inspired others. It was, and still is, the only form of ‘marketing’ I maintain. I eventually left engineering to pursue travel consulting full time in 2012.

In addition to my expertise and perspectives within travel, photography, and writing, I hold certifications in yoga (asana & life philosophy) and nutrition counseling. It’s my belief that one’s life is most joyful and in balance when one is physically active, eating & sleeping well, and taking the time to explore hobby, curiosity, and passion in harmony with profession. Many do not have this balance, in favor of pursuit of bigger, more. I’m telling you my friends, that sole end goal will always prove insatiable. Most professionals - especially entrepreneurs - do not realize, do not pause along the way to take audit, to check in. To keep growing a company, or to say this is good, this is where I want to flow for a while. Because our society rewards more. If it’s bigger it must be better, is subconscious. Often when an honest audit of self with business and achievement is taken, there is no need to chase for more status, objects, or money. And when one steps out of the race to an insatiable end, life has a natural way of becoming easier, less comparative, and more joyful.

I live in the mountains of Colorado, with my husband and three rescue dogs. I’m passionate about lifelong learning, niched in philanthropy, travel in a soft manner, personal style, evolving fitness & nutrition, and natural aging. I also get immense satisfaction in helping and mentoring young professionals as well as fellow entrepreneurs to find more balance & joy through healthy lifestyle and professional choices.

A note on the photography. I devote some time annually to study technical photography from those in the field whom I admire. All images on this site were taken by me, either with my Nikon or Android. I prefer monochrome imagery because of the mood it implies, timelessness, particularly with travel photography. Images from this site may not be reproduced in any form, stored in any retrieval system or transmitted in any form by any means - electronic, mechanical, photocopy, recording, or otherwise - without prior written permission from me.

Lila Fox Travel Co (LFTCo) was formed in 2012, when a love of travel writing parlayed naturally into travel planning. Since then, Lila has arranged travel to all 7 continents for her clients, intentionally building a loyal client list as well as an extensive network of deep relationships within certain niches of the travel industry. She predominantly arranges leisure travel (for solo travelers, couples, some families) and is known for customizing immersive ‘country and town’ experiences around the world preferring to get travelers out of overvisited places and into often overlooked sections of countries via car / private driver / private boat / or train, where real tradition & culture can still be felt. As a lifelong learner, she enjoys making portraits of the animals & people she meets during her travels and holds certification as a 200hr+ RYT Yoga Teacher & in Nutrition Counseling.

As matters of personal passion more than anything Lila will often meet up with local artists and interesting photographers in the places she visits, and weave that in with connecting with local wellness experts to learn from their practices, and vice versa. Her travel advice has been published in such periodicals as The New York Times and National Geographic Adventure, and she has been named an industry Trendsetter by Luxury Travel Advisor Magazine as well as one of the south’s most stylish by Southern Living magazine. She used to have a personal brand and social media presence. These days Lila prefers a more simple, quiet mode of existence and work. When not out on the road (India, Mexico, Ireland, Japan are favorites), a tiny town in the mountains of Colorado is where you’ll find her.

Lila works with a small list of private clients, on referral only.
