I drove out to Park City again this month. As Denver grows, more people, more traffic, more construction cranes, I have an almost innate pull to smaller places. But must have a good airport. Hence, Park City / Salt Lake City SLC. And while I’ve been familiar with Midway, a charming small town about 30 miles south, on this particular trip I found something I hadn’t known of - a lovely authentic outdoor Japanese onsen located in Wasatch Mountain State Park, perched between the golf course & the Nordic Center. I had the sauna, warm pool, and cold plunge to myself, with incredibly peaceful quiet views of the hills & mountains. Such a gem! I pulled over while leaving to snap this photo of the area, with the Historic Tate Barn in the background. As cities get more congested, places like this get even more appealing.

Probably one of my favorite trips to create for a client this year … a mother traveling Scotland solo, while her teenage son attends a golf camp at St Andrews. They will both arrive in Edinburgh together and explore the city for a couple of days before heading to Rusack’s at St Andrews where her son will stay while she travels onward to Pine Trees Hotel in Pitlochry - Newhall Mains Hotel on the outskirts of Inverness - ending at Isle of Eriska Hotel on its own island off the west coast of Scotland. I love this trip for a few reasons … first- a mother traveling alone for herself, second- a teenage son exploring his hobby in another culture/country, and lastly- small hotel stays in a known country but lesser-traveled places within.
