What I’ve Discovered that I Love

One of my first photography teachers told me something I’ve never forgotten. And it’s shaped so many images I’ve captured since. Find a box and wait for something to happen in your box. The box can be interesting and beautiful by itself, but it becomes an impactful image when someone happens into your box. This image here is a perfect illustration. I was walking up to my room recently while staying at Rosewood San Miguel de Allende. I looked to my left, and loved the lines of the stairs, the circular light shadows. Noticed the elevators and knew someone was bound to either be getting on, or off, soon. Didn’t have to wait long. Heard the unmistakable ding, and she walked out. I waited with my camera ready until she came out of the shadow and was framed by that column. One shot. Interesting photograph by itself. More interesting with the woman. | Pro Tip: You do not need a fancy camera, just your mind.

Unique Experiences & Travel Inspiration

The day after Christmas, Texas-based clients will board a flight south. Way south. To Argentinean Patagonia to explore one of the world’s wonders while based at a leading expedition-style lodge with views of the Electric Valley and the Marconi Glacier. After a week of treks, hikes, overland explorations, they’ll head up to one of my favorite cities, Buenos Aires, for culture, tango, museums, estancias, gauchos, and some of the coolest restaurants & you-have-to-know-someone shopping found on earth. | Best Time of Year: the seasons are reversed to us here in the US, so for optimal outdoor exploration & weather, think our winter months.

A Notable upcoming Client Trip

New Orleans-based clients are taking the family to Australia for the holidays! What I love about their itinerary is that, to me, it has a perfect blend of city & nature. It’s something I try to do with all trips that I design when I have the buy-in of the travelers … let’s key you into the city / key you into the countryside. A trip is more of a song, a story this way. This family will dig into Melbourne & Sydney, of course, but also the Great Barrier Reef, Kangaroo Island, Daintree Rainforest, Cape Tribulation, Mossman Gorge, Cape du Couedic, Seal Bay Conservation Park … Australia is a long flight, no way around it, but once there it’s such a cool playground. | Special Family Experience: Phillip Island’s penguins

from us to you… thank you.
